Please Note: We have arranged three optional 'activities' for guests to book (see more info / sign up here) on 10/2 (on the day after the wedding, before the farewell BBQ)
If you'd like to do something different, or are looking for recommendations for other days surrounding the wedding, please find our thoughts below!
A must see - Siena is known for its art, museums, and cuisine. A few popular things to do in Siena are visit the Duomo (cathedral) di Siena, climb up to the top of the Torre del Mangia, look at the frescoes in the Biblioteca Piccolomini (a library built in honor of Pope Pius II), and explore the central piazza II Campo (the large square seen in the picture - beautiful to see during the day or at night, preferably with gelato in hand!)

Recommend at least a couple hours here + stay for a meal!
Known as the 'Town of Five Towers', San Gimignano is known for its medieval architecture and preserved tower houses. This town has come highly recommended to us but we haven't made the trip yet!
35 min from venue by car
Referenced in Dante's Divine Comedy, Monterrigioni is a tiny, tiny town inside medieval walls, which can be spotted on a hill from the venue. Walk along the top of the walls for great views of Chianti! Fun fact: All of the surrounding olive trees belong to Borgo Stomennano, which can also be accessed via a 20 min walk through the grove.

Only ~1 hour needed
A lovely little hilltop town nearby. Stroll through the Via delle Volte, a subterranean fortified walkway from the Middle Ages, and grab lunch at La Bottega del Borgo - Diego and Anneliese approved!
20 minutes from venue by car
Only ~1 hour needed unless you also stay for a meal
You might recognize this name from a wine bottle! This medieval hilltop town is surrounded by vineyards. Visit a historic wine cellar and grab a bite to eat here. This town has also come highly recommended but we have never been. Please share your experience with us if you go!
1 hour 10 min from venue by car
As opposed to the other cities in this list which can be visited in half a day or in a couple hours, we recommend spending 1-2 days in Florence before or after your trip. The capital of the Tuscany region is known for its Renaissance art and architecture. You can visit the Duomo cathedral (in the picture), Ponte Vecchio, and Michelangelo’s statue of David and Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” in its museums.
1 hour from venue by car
